Its purpose is to instruct the soul in Christian perfection with Christ as the Divine Model. It consists of a series of counsels of perfection written in Latin in a familiar and even colloquial style, and is divided into four parts or books. II. OUR SPIRIT BEING THE HIDDEN MAN OF THE HEART. First Peter reveals that our spirit is the hidden man of our heart. The hidden man is a meek and quiet spirit. When our spirit is meek and quiet, it is hidden. First Peter indicates that every part of our being may be considered as a man.

This is an updated version of a Bible study I did in on the role of feelings/emotions in spiritual formation in Christ. It is inspired by Dallas Willard’s book, Renovation of the article on feelings is part of a series from my class for counselors on “How People Change.” (See my other articles on the heart, thoughts, body, social, and soul.).   St. John of Damascus says that the nous is the purest part of the soul. St. Gregory Palamas uses the word "nous" in two senses: as the whole soul, and also as the power of the soul. In Scripture and in many of the Fathers there is an identification of the nous with the heart, and the terms are used interchangeably.

Jesus Book is a reflection of ideas on this modern day society. It is my life story, and a collection of blogs, odes, and thoughts to guide the seeking heart towards greater inner understandings about Jesus Christ of Nazareth in my humble understanding. The most popular book in the world, after the Bible, is The Imitation of Christ. Since it was published in the early fifteenth century, it has deeply influenced the spirituality of millions of believing Christians. Its basic theme is that, since Jesus Christ is true God and true man, by imitating Christ as man, we become more and more like Christ, who is God.
